As many of you may have already heard, Yesterday at ~17:00 the star in the Turnur system experienced an extreme stellar event somewhat resembling a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME), dousing the system in extreme radiation and blasting nearby objects and ships with massive waves of superheated plasma, destroying Turnur I, its orbiting station, multiple fortizars close to the star and leaving many ships with deep, deep hull damage. It was AWESOME!
The event was caused by some Amarrian researchers fucking around with Triglavian tech and finding out. Fortunately, they were kind enough to give everyone a fair warning so most people could be evacuated. Us Capsuleers however decided to gather, watch, party and shoot each other en masse in numbers rarely seen. It was the kind of legendary festival you just had to have been at! It felt like time slowed down as almost two thousand of us enjoyed the music and fireworks of exploding ships and the rhythmic pulses of the star as it approached its crescendo. I even heard rumors there was one hell of a concert organized on the soon-to-be-destroyed planet.
And when it did, the world ended. I managed to capture the event on video, even though I was feeling just a little bit of panic due to all of my damage controls and integrity alarms setting off at once. But I survived, as did many others. Sadly, the planet closest to the star didn’t and many nomads who refused to leave can be little more than ashes by now.
For those who missed it, there is a chance two other stars, those in Vard and Egmar, will have a similar event in the not too distant future. Either way, here’s some pretty pictures of the aftermath.
